Coach Christy Swetckie has been coaching at Hanahan High School for 5 years. She grew up swimming competitively in Connecticut and swam for the College of Charleston for a year. Coach Swetckie coached at Wando High School from 2000 - 2004, where she won the 1st of the boys' State Championships. While she was at Wando, both the girls' and boys' teams were in the top 5 in the State. In October 2025 at the State Swim Meet, Hanahan had 2 swimmers place in top 3 in the state in all of their events. We have a very small team and cannot compete for State titles, but Hanahan is always represented well at the State level each year.
Coach Swetckie is married to Chris for 27 years, and have 3 boys (William - 20, Benjamin - 18, and Alex - 17). The older 2 graduated from Hanahan and were athletes, and Alex is currently a junior at Hanahan and on the swim team.
