After the students left for the half day on Friday, March 14, the staffs at Hanahan High School and Hanahan Middle School met by department to complete vertical planning. The goal of this meeting was to establish a collaborative relationship to enhance student success in Hanahan and it was a major success! Our students are lucky to have the best group of teachers that are forever trying to improve to provide the best education possible to our school community.

On Thursday, March 13, we are doing ONE LAST PUSH for donations for the Animal Shelter (see attached). To show our love for animals, we would love to see some pets at DROP OFF that morning. We will have some photographers to snap some pictures from 7:40-8:00 that morning in the gravel loop and in front of HES. If you are not able to make drop off, send pictures of your student with their pet(s) to hollandk@bcsdschools.net and we may feature them on our social media!!

We are thrilled to announce the 2025 Teacher of the Year at HMS - Mrs. Heather Blackmon! Ms. Blackmon teaches 6th grade social studies. Here are some of the kudos from her peers: Ms. Blackmon is a great relationship builder, she sets high standards for her students, and is willing to do whatever it takes for those around her to be successful. Ms. Blackmon integrates hands-on learning, collaboration, meaningful projects and finds ways to target independent learning goals. Ms. Blackmon cares so much abut the well-being of her students, and helps with "all the things" at HMS. Ms. Blackmon is an amazing teacher and wonderful co-worker.
We would also like to honor our runner-ups - Ms. Miller (8th math and science) and Dr. Lockwood (7th math). Hanahan Middle is blessed to have so many wonderful teachers. Go Hawks!
