Patricia Hill with winning poster

In October, Berkeley County School District recognized National Bullying Prevention Month in a variety of ways. From schoolwide announcements and counseling lessons to wearing orange on Unity Day, BCSD students and staff showed that we are one community united against bullying. As a part of the district’s Anti-Bullying Initiative, the Office of Student Support Services coordinated a district-wide anti-bullying poster contest open to all BCSD students. In total, the contest received over 150 submissions and a winner was chosen at the elementary, middle and high school level.

Upon selection, the students were surprised at their school by their families and representatives from the Berkeley County Solicitor's Office, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office and Berkeley County School District.

Congratulations to Martin Enrique Lopez-Mendez at College Park Elementary, Maret Corressel-Weiss at Marrington Middle School, and Angel Ragay at Goose Creek High! All three of these students will have a copy of their poster placed at their corresponding education level. We can’t wait to see their incredible work hung across BCSD!
